Of the others you've mentioned my favs are Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas In Connecticut and of course It's A Wonderful Life. Add to those: 1938 A Christmas Carol starring Reginald Owen as Scrooge. 1988 Scrooged starring Bill Murray. 1983 A Christmas Story. 1965 A Charlie Brown Christmas 1966 How The Grinch Stole Christmas. And even though i still haven't seen it i love the idea of 2003's Bad Santa ;Dsookietexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05065893491004805131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196652593714152340.post-75345108716908016832010-12-24T01:12:29.008-06:002010-12-24T01:12:29.008-06:00I love White Christmas! Anyway, I picked five I like, but there are others; it's always interesting to hear what other people like. We watch A Christmas Story by Bob Clark every Christmas. It was very pleasant and I thought it was remarkable that "Joseph" and "Mary" were from Mexico. And yes, what great character actors. They just don't make 'em like they used to.Stephen Reginaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17050782148081105899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196652593714152340.post-38165239863798923262010-12-21T13:11:16.286-06:002010-12-21T13:11:16.286-06:00Star in the Night, a 1945 Warner Brothers short ap...Star in the Night, a 1945 Warner Brothers short appearing on TCM this time of year, and also on the Christmas in Connecticut DVD release, is one of my favorites. It's a modern retelling of the Nativity story, set at a cold, Southwestern desert road stop. J. Carrol Naish (Luigi from radio's Life with Luigi) plays Nick, the cynical owner of a motel. Great, great character actors like handsome Donald Woods, and Warner contract players like Dick Erdman, and some beautiful shots. Won an Oscar too.

I've linked to a list we did a few years ago of lesser known "Yuletide gems" (we have another one of "Dark Christmas" movies!)... but I would definitely include Meet Me as one of the best and an especial favorite. There's just so many to choose from! I'll even enjoy Susan Slept Here for its eye candy (the color, supporting leads like Glenda Farrell; Anne Francis as an elaborate coiffed spider...really) despite its icky premise.Patience Wieland, NoirDame.comhttp://www.noirdame.com/blog/twelve-hidden-yultide-gems-2noreply@blogger.com
