Jacqueline Stewart, the newest TCM host, will be introducing
silent films on the channels popular “Silent Sunday Nights.”
Stewart is “a
professor in the Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago . She teaches American film
history, specializing in African American cinema from the silent era to the
present,” according to a post at tcm.com.
Stewart was part of the panel discussion at the 2019 TCM
Film Festival: “The Complicated Legacy of Gone With The Wind,” along with
Donald Bogle (panel host), Molly Haskell, and Stephanie Allain. This was one of
the more enjoyable panels at the festival. Perhaps this was Professor Stewart’s
audition for the host position. If it was, she passed!

She'll be a wonderful addition, and I think viewers will learn a lot from her.
